A Europa League winner with Eintracht Frankfurt, Evan Ndicka has been attracting interest from across the continent thanks to his recent performances, with Barcelona the latest to be linked.
The French central defender has reportedly courted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United – potentially as a replacement for captain Harry Maguire – as well as Barcelona.
Both clubs were interested in Josko Gvardiol, but after the Croatian’s fine performances at the World Cup, RB Leipzig are demanding silly money for him, and Chelsea would appear to be a more likely destination.
Ndicka, like Gvardiol a left-footed centre-back, could prove a more viable alternative…
What position does Ndicka play in?
Ndicka is a hulking 6’4″ defender who normally lines up on the left of a back three for Frankfurt but can also play centre-back or left-back in a four-man defensive unit.
How good is Ndicka?
Ndicka was signed by Frankfurt from Auxerre for just €5.5 million in the summer of 2018 and slotted straight into then coach Adi Hutter’s side, playing 36 games in all competitions despite still being just 18 by the time that campaign finished.
He hasn’t been out of the side since. N’Dicka won the Europa League with Frankfurt in 2021/22, last season also his most prolific to date with four goals and four assists in the Bundesliga – not bad for a player trained as a centre-back!

Frankfurt have a recent history of cashing in on attacking players, like Andre Silva, Sebastien Haller and Luka Modric, who fetched a combined €114m, and they will likely sell to the right bidder this winter.
Ndicka is currently rated at €19.2m by Football Transfers’ in-house algorithm, but out of contract in June.
