Liverpool have been tracking the progress of Morocco’s Sofyan Amrabat after the midfielder’s impressive displays at the World Cup in Qatar.
Amrabat, who plays for Fiorentina, has been the heartbeat of the Moroccan midfield over the course of the tournament and has attracted transfer interest in recent weeks.
Apart from Liverpool, there has also been interest from their Premier League rivals Tottenham, who have been keen to strengthen their midfield ranks in the second half of the campaign.

That could force Liverpool’s hand to get a transfer done as quickly as possible, and put them in a similar situation they were in with Luis Diaz at the start of the year.
Amrabat could force Liverpool’s hand
In the January transfer window of 2022, Liverpool were quick to wrap up a deal for Diaz from Porto having followed his growth over previous months.
When Tottenham showed interest in Diaz, Liverpool wanted to prevent any competition and made a move, which has now been a smart decision given his impact on the team since signing for the Reds.

Something similar could happen in the case of Amrabat, as Liverpool are in desperate need to improve their midfield options in the near future.
Liverpool’s current options are either struggling with fitness issues or are ageing, needing them to look for other options to help their cause, and Amrabat is one of them.
It’s been reported that Amrabat would cost around €30 million if any club wishes to prize the 26-year-old away from Fiorentina in the January transfer window next year.

Some reports suggest that his agents prefer him to sign for Liverpool over any other club and whether a deal for him can be made remains to be seen as the Reds evaluate their options ahead of a transfer.
Other clubs such as Arsenal are also monitoring the situation but their interest is not as strong as that from Liverpool and Tottenham.
