Manchester United are interested in signing a new forward for the long run in the summer transfer window with several names linked to the club.

The Red Devils are set to sign Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley in the winter but want a long-term signing when the summer comes around.

They currently do not have the funds available to make a big money signing right now but that could change in the near future and they are already planning for it.

Recently, names such as Victor Osimhen, Harry Kane and Benjamin Sesko have been linked to the club and there are varying odds of signing them.

Man Utd eyeing three forwards

Ten Hag has made it clear a forward is a priority for Manchester United, especially given that Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford are their only senior options at the minute.

Getting either of the three forwards will be quite difficult for various reasons, be it price, age, injury record or the selling club’s unwillingness to sell.

Napoli have always been known to be tough negotiators and they won’t let go of Osimhen that easily – they will want a fee of around €100 million for the Nigerian.

Manchester United will also be vary of his injury issues given that he has suffered with problems on several occasions over the last two years.

It’s quite similar for Kane and Tottenham, where Daniel Levy will want around €120 million for the Englishman, given his high status in the squad.

Losing out on Champions League football may encourage Kane to force a move and Tottenham to sell, especially if Manchester United can offer him that.

Sesko is the most likely arrival, but he will have just moved to RB Leipzig in the summer, having already agreed a deal to go there from Red Bull Salzburg last year.

Manchester United were keen on him in 2022 but Salzburg was the most likely option and they may move for him again, with a fee of around €50 million desired for the Slovenian attacker.

Who Manchester United move for remains to be seen, but it’s clear they want to spend big on a sure-fire goalscorer in the summer to take their squad to the next level under Ten Hag.
