Ryan Kent contract talks are still ongoing with Rangers and manager Michael Beale has made the possibility of a stay much more realistic for the Englishman.

Talks are slowly progressing but there is a way to go before a final agreement – although there is more positivity around the potential of a deal than before.

Footballtransfers sources understand Rangers are working hard to try and tie down their star man as the chances of him leaving for free in the summer or a cut fee this month still loom.

The former QPR manager has made no secret of his desire to keep out of contract players like Kent, saying “we want to create a stronger Rangers going forward, with or without those players. Ideally with them.”

Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd recently stated that “it wouldn’t surprise him to see Kent sign a new deal late into the window”.

Rangers have history in striking deals with players late. The contract situation of key defender Connor Goldson last summer is testament to that.

Beale’s impact on Kent talks

The Rangers winger also made contact with Beale after Rangers sacked Giovanni Van Bronckhorst. A move seen as a sign that Beale will have a major factor in Kent’s future.

Kent has known Beale since he was 14 and the manager was a coach at Liverpool’s academy.

Rangers will draw on that connection and hope that they can slowly climb the impasse that has been in place in talks previous.

Kent has made over 200 appearances for the Ibrox side and scored in the recent 2-2 draw with Old Firm rivals Celtic.
