Mykhailo Mudryk’s protracted transfer to Arsenal from Shakhtar Donetsk rumbles on, with Gunners fans urging the winger’s current club to #FreeMudryk after they posted pictures of him training on Twitter.

Mudryk has been Arsenal’s top transfer target for some time, and he has been spotted in London this week as his club and agents discuss potential moves to the Emirates at also Chelsea.

Mudryk was reportedly the subject of a €30 million bid from Everton last summer, but his asking price has skyrocketed following a Champions League campaign in which he had three goals and two assists from six group games.

“It’s important that the offer is closer to [Jack] Grealish than to Antony,” Shakhtar executive Carlo Nicolini told Calcio Mercato recently, hinting that the €118m fee Manchester City spent on the former would be closer to their valuation than the €95m Manchester United paid up front for the latter.

Shakhtar sporting director Dario Srna was pictured sharing a box with Todd Boehly at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by City last Thursday, but Mudryk has continued to engage with Arsenal content on social media, making it clear which team he wants to play for.

And now Shakhtar have posted pictures of Mudryk training in the rain in full Donetsk attire. The Tweet has been viewed 2.1 million times at the time of writing with the vast majority of responses employing the #FreeMudryk hashtag.

Arsenal are reportedly willing to go as high as €100m for Mudryk, but a deal at that level would likely have to be paid in two separate instalments.

Whatever the fee, it would appear to be only a matter of time before Mudryk is an Arsenal player.
