Chelsea transfer news: Todd Boehly to SACK players, NOT Graham Potter

Kai Havertz Chelsea 2022-23

Graham Potter has owner Todd Boehly’s full backing, despite a poor start to life as Chelsea manager.

Potter inherited the team in sixth position in the Premier League, after six games, and has overseen a fall to 10th.

But Boehly is prepared to support Potter by sticking with him through the difficult period.

And, according to Matt Law, the Chelsea owner is considering a clear-out in the summer transfer window.

A number of players that aren’t in Potter’s plans could be made to leave the west London club. Who could they be?

Which Chelsea players could leave?

Attacking flops Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Kai Havertz are facing uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge.

Pulisic, signed from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, showed his best form at the end of his debut season under Frank Lampard. Since then, he has struggled with injuries and never solidified a place in the team.

Ziyech was also brought in by Lampard, having starred at Ajax in the Eredivisie, but has never shown anything more than glimpses of those levels.

Havertz completes the trio of failed Lampard signings, despite scoring the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final. The German is another that has produced on occasion, but lacks the consistency to become a real success at the club.

Club captain Cesar Azpilicueta is undoubtedly a Chelsea legend, and his experience is still valuable, but he doesn’t look up to it anymore. The Blues could benefit from another player to backup Reece James going forward.

Vice captain Jorginho is another that could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge. At his best, he divided Chelsea fans’ opinion, but most would agree that the time for him to leave has come.
