Barcelona are interested in signing Manchester United target Youssoufa Moukoko as a back up for forward Robert Lewandowski in the near future.

The Blaugrana are quite thin in that area of the pitch with other options being the likes of Memphis Depay and Ferran Torres, but they want to strengthen soon.

Moukoko is in the final months of his contract at Borussia Dortmund and can run it down or can move in a cut-price deal in the winter if he’s eager to make a move now.

However, it won’t be easy for Barcelona to land him as there is interest from various clubs to sign Moukoko, given his talent and potential.

Barcelona want Moukoko

Fabrizio Romano, speaking on the United Stand, spoke about the Moukoko situation: “I think, from what I’m being told every single day – the expectation at Borussia Dortmund is for Moukoko to leave.

“Dortmund sent him an offer, which hasn’t been accepted (€3M per year with add-ons offer), this isn’t the financially proposal he expected,”

“For Premier League clubs, he’s an opportunity for January. Barcelona are only interested in getting him in the summer for free.”

Dortmund are working towards extending Moukoko’s deal to avoid losing him on the cheap or on a free transfer – in January, he would cost about €15 million.

Previously, it’s been suggested that Moukoko would prefer a move to Barcelona over any other club, with Manchester United and Chelsea also keen on the signing.

Manchester United are eager to sign another forward after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and they are thin in that area.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are also keen to sign another forward and are building a young squad under the ownership of Todd Boehly and the rest of his consortium.

For now, there is plenty of interest in Moukoko and Dortmund are also pushing for his renewal and it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up.
